THE OWNERS Line Hestvik and Stig Haug are the owners of Kjerringøy Fishing Lodge. In the summer of 2016 we stumbled upon a neglected, ramshackle fishery out on Kjerringøy island. Kjerringøy rorbusenter was an inn consisting of 12 buildings all built on a 1500 square meter pier. The whole place needed serious renovation and a proper face-lift. In addition, Kjerringøy rorbusenter was in need of dedicated caretakers who love the sea, hosting guests, and making great food. So why did we buy the place? Because there was one thing that didn't need fixing - the location. We are literally floating on the ocean, are surrounded by nothing but mountains, the midnight sun, Northern lights and never-ending fresh sea air. We simply couldn't let such a pearl suffer neglect and ruin, so we rolled up our sleeves, got out the tool box and put ourselves, family and friends to work. With a brother-in-law who knew how to build a pier, a wife who knows all about interior design and how to refurbish a sofa, near-adult children who needed a summer job, and friends who were willing to paint, wash and hammer, we managed to bring the old fishermans' cottages to life over a period of 5 years: 20 rock-hard mattresses have been replaced with new spring mattresses. 8 dilapidated cottages, have been renovated and expanded to create 10 tastefully furnished, cottages. A tired old fisherman's pub has been given new life as a cool fisherman's café complete with full bar. What once was an overstuffed junk shed, out at the tip of the pier, has been made into a lounge with incredible views. 200 liters of paint have transformed the once monotone rorbusenter into a fresh, inviting settlement in warm hues of red, gold and green. The seating area on the pier has 60 new seats spread out around the pier - all with ocean views. We have made seminars and group-bookings our primary focus with accommodation for groups of up to 60 people. The water system is completely new, to provide fresh-from-the-spring water straight from the tap! We created trails in the surrounding area with excellent signage that even an idiot can follow. The previously neglected hot tub has been overhauled and given a prominent home with amazing ocean and mountain views! And, should we be met by a group of 30 fishing-mad guests, we've got 30 fishing rods ready to provide happy fish stories for years. We are ever more proud of Kjerringøy Rorbusenter, and we're certain we did the right thing taking over this rare and beautiful place. We hope you'll be as enchanted as we are. Welcome!
